The bank statement, matched against your invoices. What remains: discrepancies and unpaid invoices.
Each line of the statement is compared with customer invoices using rules the company sets itself: the reference, the amount to within a few cents, the date to within a few days. What matches is reconciled; discrepancies and unpaid invoices stand out.
- The printed statement, and invoices ticked off one by one with a highlighter.
- A transfer with no reference, and a search through the whole customer file.
- A customer who paid 50 cents short, and an invoice left open for months.
- Nobody really knows what is still to be collected.
- The statement is reconciled against the invoices in one go, line by line.
- A transfer with no reference is found by its amount and date.
- Small discrepancies are shown, with the invoice they relate to.
- Invoices tracked on a kanban board, and amounts by status in a chart.
From statement to cash position, in five steps
Reconciliation follows written rules, not intuition: you always know why two lines were matched.
- 01
The statement
The statement exported from the bank goes into a table of the application, alongside the customer invoices.
The printed statement, next to a pile of invoices. The statement and the invoices in the same application. - 02
The rules
The company chooses what counts: the invoice reference, the amount to within a few cents, the date to within a few days, the customer's name. Each rule has its weight, and a threshold decides.
Everyone reconciles their own way.Written rules, the same for everyone. - 03
Reconciliation
Each line of the statement is compared with the invoices. Those that pass the threshold are matched, with the rule that applied.

Discrepancies
A payment that only roughly matches, a statement line with no invoice, an invoice with no payment: each one stands out separately.
Discrepancies discovered at year end.Every discrepancy in front of you, the same day. - 05
Tracking
Invoices move along a kanban board, from “sent” to “paid”, with their due dates on the calendar and amounts by status in a chart.
A tracking spreadsheet to keep updating. The cash position always up to date.
Rules the company sets itself
- Each rule has its weight. Equals, contains, similar text, amount within a margin, date within a margin: combine and weight them.
- A threshold decides. Below it, nothing is matched: the line stays to be looked at.
- Reconciliation changes nothing. The view compares and shows; people change the status of invoices.
- Rights apply. Only those with access to the invoices and the statement can see them.
- The data stays with the company. The statement and the invoices are on its server.

€0.50 discrepancy. The payment is matched to the invoice, and the discrepancy stays visible to the team.
Fictitious data. Tolerances are set in the view: amount, days, weight of each rule.
The same invoices, seen four ways
An ODESA application shows the same table from several angles, with no copy: everyone picks the view that works for them.
- The kanban board works by dragging cards.
- Moving a card on the kanban board writes the status.
- A click on the chart shows the invoices behind the figure.

“Clear rules, the same for everyone.”
What clients ask
Where does the statement come from?
From the file the bank lets you export. It is imported into a table of the application, alongside the invoices.
What happens when nothing matches?
The line stays unmatched and the team sees it. Nothing is matched below the chosen threshold.
Does reconciliation change the invoices?
No. The view compares and shows; the team marks invoices as “paid”, for example by dragging them on the kanban board.
Can the tolerances be adjusted?
Yes. The amount, the number of days, the fields compared and the weight of each rule are set in the view.
